Kathy H. Abusow

LL.B. (Associate)

A native of Co. Down, Kathy attended Friends’ School, Lisburn. She went on to study Law at the University of Edinburgh where she attained a 2.1 LL.B (Hons) degree in 2001, having spent her third year studying Law and improving her French at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

 

Post-graduation Kathy completed the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh and undertook a two year traineeship with a large commercial firm in Edinburgh City Centre. Kathy was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Scotland in 2004.

 

Upon returning to Northern Ireland in 2004 Kathy completed further studies at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies in Belfast to requalify as a Solicitor in Northern Ireland. She won the Conveyancing Prize for her year at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies.

 

Kathy worked in two private and commercial firms in Lisburn and Belfast before moving to Downpatrick in 2007. She subsequently spent 12 years working as a Solicitor in a local firm, gaining experience in all areas of private practice and specialising in Residential and Commercial Conveyancing and Wills. She takes a keen interest in Agricultural Land transactions.

 

She sits on the Board of Governors at a local primary school and assists with a girls’ church youth group.

 

In her spare time Kathy enjoys helping out on her husband’s family farm with their three young children.
